| |  | | | | | | WILBO S.A. is a company which continues the economic activity of two its founders, namely Mr Dariusz Bobiński and Mr Waldemar Wilandt. They created a partnership named WILBO in June 1987. Until the end of 1988, the partnership invested its money and efforts in building a citric acid factory.
As a result of a rapid growth, in July 1992, the partnership changed its name to "ZAKŁADY RYBNE WILBO".
In March 1991 the company started its mainstream production, namely canned fish products and fish preserves.
In May 1994 the company acquired a real property at Hutnicza Street from Zakłady Rybne in Gdynia. At the same time the company purchased installations and machinery to start production on a bigger scale. Also, as a result of the liquidation process of Seafood Product Ltd., the company acquired raw materials, semi-finished products and end products of that company from the Bank Komunalny in Gdynia.
In August 1994 the name of the company was changed to WILBO SEAFOOD Sp. z o.o. The Company started to build its own sales network through creating Sales Offices in Kraków, Warszawa and Poznań.
In 1995 the Company enlarged its production capacity thanks to a further acquisition, namely the real estate at Przemysłowa Street in Gdynia. After modernisation the Company started to produce tinned meat products.
During its history, especially taking into consideration recent changes in the Polish economy, many rapid changes took place that in turn affected the Company. It is important to note that the Company was able to adapt to those changes in terms of customer needs, demand changes and purchasing habits.
In April 1997 the Company was transformed into a joint stock company. The joint stock of the Company amounted 6.699.960 PLN. At present the joint stock of the Company is 16.199.960 PLN.
The Company made its debut on Warsaw Stock Exchange on the 8th of January 1998.
On the 24th of June, the General Meeting took up the decision that since July the 1st the Company changes its name to WILBO S.A.
Wilbo, the first company to produce and sell canned fish as a branded product in Poland. Neptun is universally recognised and proved to be Poland's best known canned fish brand.
This brand has now been extended to include ready-to-eat marinated and pickled fish products in a variety of sauces based on either cream, yoghurt or classic marinades.
