| | | | | | | | Solaris Bus & Coach Limited is a family-owned company located in Bolechowo, nearby Poznań. We manufacture a range of advanced city buses, local buses, tourist coaches, trolley buses, as well as buses for special applications. All Solaris Bus & Coach products meet the highest quality standards. Our vehicles are manufactured from high-grade stainless steel and are equipped with chassis and components supplied by Europe's leading manufacturers.
The beginnings of Solaris Bus & Coach go back to 1994 when Krzysztof Olszewski, its founder and chairman, set up the Neoplan Poland Ltd. sales office, with a 100 % shares held by the Olszewski family. In the spring of 1996 in Bolechowo nearby Poznań a new bus factory was founded and the Neoplan Poland Ltd. changed its profile becoming a manufacturer of modern city buses. Another milestone for the company came in 1999. In order to meet market demands and customers’ requirements the company launched a new city low-floor bus - Urbino 12. It started the Solaris brand. The Urbino 12 was the first model of the whole family of city buses recognizable by the very characteristic “sausage dog” logo. On the 1st of September 2001 the company was renamed Solaris Bus & Coach Ltd.
Year after year the Solaris Bus & Coach Ltd. company is extending its offer of Solaris brand products. The first one was 12-meter long bus Solaris Urbino followed by new models 10-, 15- and 18-meter long. In 2001 a trolley bus Trollino was launched to the product offer of Solaris Bus & Coach. Two years later, in 2003 the company Solaris Bus & Coaches has designed and constructed first in the world 15-meter long trolley bus that is a great alternative for 18-meter long jointed vehicles. Last year we have enlarged our Solaris group of products with low-entry bus Solaris Urbino Low Entry and LPG drive bus Solaris Urbino CNG.
From 1999 when the first Solaris bus appeared on the market we have sold to our customers almost 1600 buses belonging to the Solaris brand. Half of them was sold abroad. On the Polish market Solaris Bus & Coach Ltd. is the leading company in the category of low-floor city vehicles.
The Solaris Bus & Coaches Ltd. is increasing continuously its export shares in the total sales of products. In the Western Europe our city buses belonging to the Solaris family are very popular. Solaris Urbino models are present on the following markets: Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Latvia, Malta, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, The Switzerland and Sweden.
During five years of our operation on the market Solaris has become a recognized European brand. Local and abroad prizes and awards won by our Solaris brand buses confirm recognition we won. We enjoy mostly the second award won by Solaris Vacanza and Solaris Urbino buses in the most prestigious European competition Coach of the Year 2003 and Bus of the Year 2005.
